This adapter bellhousing assembly is used to adapt the GM 4.3, V8 to the Jeep AX15, 5 speed manual transmissions. The bellhousing kit includes a 356 T-6 aluminum bellhousing, universal dust cover plate, pilot bushing, AX5 bearing retainer assembly, seal, throw-out arm, slave cylinder push rod, slave cylinder push rod end, ball pivot, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions.

  • Chevy Small Block V8 & 4.3L V6 (1986 and up)
  • Chevy Small Block V8 & 4.3L V6 (pre 1986)

Transmission:

  • Jeep AX-15

The AX15 was used in model years 1989-99. It has a overall transmission case length of 24.00". The output shaft has a positive stickout and is 23 spline. The AX15 was found coupled to the Jeep 4.0L. Through out the years we have seen two different input pilot tip dimensions. 89-95 used a .590" diameter. 1997-99 used a .750" diameter.

Note:
- When using a 168th flywheel on your GM engine a gear reduction starter is required; AA offers gear reduction starts (p/n 22-0001 & 22-0003)
- In addition, you will need a slave cylinder spacer (p/n 22-0001S), and the throw-out arm included in the kit (p/n 716179) will need to be exchanged for a new throw-out arm (p/n 716179V)
- GM 4.3 V6 conversion applications with a 168th flywheel will experience header interference with the slave cylinder & throw-out arm; at that time, it is recommended that a muffler shop custom make an exhaust down pipe
