Features include massive a 1 5/8 in. diameter drag link tube and 1 5/8 in. diameter 4130 chromoly heat treated tie rod tube, 1 1/4 in. RH/LH thread forged steel rod ends, removable rod end cartridges that may be used in standard or reversed orientation, premium jam nuts and RockJock's heavy duty steering stabilizer shock bracket kit. Components are powder coated semi-gloss black so they are ready for install right out of the box!

RockJock's heavy duty U-bolt style steering stabilizer shock mounting bracket kit is included to allow you to easily reinstall your factory stabilizer shock or an upgraded CE-9170SD1 Rancho RS5000 stabilizer shock.

More commonly in applications that require this heavy of a steering system, you’ll be looking to install Ram Assist steering. RockJock offer easy to install ram mounting brackets for this tie rod.

The removable cartridges in the rod ends offer many advantages:

They are able to be replaced independently of the forged rod end, saving cost
A spare can easily be carried in the vehicle for trail repairs (carry RockJock's JK-9703W wrench with you as well!)
If a cartridge end is removed and replaced, the vehicle does not have to be realigned, because the tie rod /drag link length adjustment was not compromised
If a high-steer configuration is desired, cartridges may be easily removed from the rod end forgings and reinserted from the top and simply tightened back down

Have you installed a 1 ton front differential and are looking for a Tie Rod? In most instances that RockJock are aware of – this is your answer! If you have custom built a 1 ton front differential, if you have purchased a 1 ton differential and are unhappy with the tie rod supplied with it or if you have installed knuckles on your stock differential that have a 1 ton taper this tie rod may be the solution you are looking for!

RockJock's completely bolt-on Modular Extreme Tie Rod is commonly referred to as RockJock's 2 1/2 Ton tie rod. It is adjustable to fit a center of tapered hole to center of tapered hole dimensions from 57 1/2 in. to 60 1/2 in. Features include a massive 1 5/8 in. diameter 4130 chromoly heat treated tube, 1 1/4 in. RH/LH thread forged steel rod ends, 1 ton taper removable rod end cartridges (that may be used in standard or reversed orientation) and premium jam nuts. The right hand and left hand threads and jam nuts allow for drag link spec. adjustments after installation without having to remove either end of the drag link from the vehicle.

The removable cartridges in the rod ends offer many advantages.

  • They are able to be replaced independently of the forged rod end, saving cost
  • A spare can easily be carried in the vehicle for trail repairs (carry RockJock's JK-9703W wrench with you as well!)
  • If a cartridge end is removed and replaced, the vehicle does not have to be realigned, because the tie rod length adjustment was not compromised
  • Cartridges may be easily removed from the rod end forgings and inserted from the top or the bottom, depending upon your mounting preference, and simply tightened back down

Most commonly in applications that require this heavy of a steering system, you’ll be looking to install Ram Assist steering. RockJock offer easy to install ram mounting brackets for this tie rod. Should you be intending to stay with a steering stabilizer shock, RockJock also offer RockJock's JK-9703SB heavy duty U-bolt style steering stabilizer shock mounting bracket to allow you to easily reinstall a factory stabilizer shock or an upgraded shock such as RockJock's CE-9170SD1 Rancho RS5000 stabilizer shock. Note: this shock will not be a bolt-on solution, at the differential end, in all applications.

This easy to install kit is completely bolt-on and requires no modifications or machining to any part of the vehicle! Components are powder coated semi-gloss black so they are ready for install right out of the box!

Notes:

  • Wrench flats on the tubes require a 1 1/2 in. wrench, jam nuts require a 1 7/8 in. wrench
  • Rod end cartridges require RockJock's JK-9703W wrench or a 2 in. wrench or impact socket
  • The universal nature of this tie rod allows it to be used in various applications, granted the dimensions suite. You may simply replace the cartridges with a cartridge of a different taper to suite other applications. See RockJock's additional cartridge offerings.
  • If you intend to flip the Rod End Cartridges from top to bottom, etc., keep in mind that your knuckle holes are only tapered from one direction. Mounting the tie rod on the opposite side of the knuckle than the knuckle intends will require the tapered holes to be retapered from the other direction.
  • Being that this a universal product, you will need to cycle your suspension before use to ensure that the rod ends to not bottom out upon extreme articulation. You do not want your steering rod ends to be your down travel stops! Not being mindful of these limitations will cause damage and premature wear to the components that is NOT covered under warranty!
  • RockJock offer easy to install ram mounting brackets for this tie rod.
  • RockJock's JK-9703SB Steering Stabilizer Shock Bracket Kit will bolt to this tie rod and may be used with many stock stabilizer shocks, an upgraded CE-9170SD1 Rancho RS5000 stabilizer shock and likely many other aftermarket shocks
  • You must grease all rod ends via their zerk fittings before use
  • Grease unit with non-synthetic, hi-moly lube grease, such as RockJock's CE-9013G
